Skill Check ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Skill Check game on www.skillcheckgame.com or via our Android application. Skill Check is operated by Ki10 Games.

1. Information We Collect

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect and store your email address via Supabase magic links. We do not collect or store passwords. If you sign in with Google or Discord, we receive your email address and a unique account identifier from those providers.
• Display Name: A name you choose to identify yourself on leaderboards and in the friends system.
• Game Data: We store your game progress, scores, unlocks, collection data, run history, and preferences to provide cloud saves and leaderboards.
• Gameplay Data: When you complete a run, we log your scores, stage performance, and individual question results. Run scores and your display name are shown on leaderboards. Aggregate question results are reviewed in anonymised form to improve game balance and content quality. We do not use this data for behavioural profiling or advertising.
• User Submissions: If you submit theme ideas or feedback through the in-game tools, your display name, email address, app version, platform, and the content of your submission are sent to our internal review channel (a private Discord webhook) for review.
• Diagnostic & Crash Data: If the app encounters an error, we may automatically log the error type, error message, a truncated user identifier (first 8 characters), device type (Android/web/desktop), operating system, and app version. This is sent to our internal review channel to help us diagnose and fix issues.
• Device Information: Standard device data such as platform (Android/web), device model, and operating system version may be collected for diagnostic purposes.

We do not collect your real name, address, phone number, or precise location.

Specifically, we do not collect: your contacts, calendar data, photos or videos, audio recordings, files or documents, web browsing history, app activity outside Skill Check, installed apps list, advertising identifiers, or precise or approximate location data.

2. Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following trusted third-party services to operate Skill Check:

• Supabase — authentication and cloud database storage. Stores your email address, display name, and game data. Hosted in the European Union. supabase.com/privacy
• SilentWolf — leaderboard hosting. Receives your display name and scores only. No email or other personal data is sent to SilentWolf. silentwolf.com/privacy
• Polar — payment processing for premium purchases. Polar receives your email address to associate the purchase with your account. We do not see or store your payment card details. polar.sh/legal/privacy
• Google Sign-In and Discord OAuth — optional sign-in providers. If you choose to use these, we receive your email address and a unique account identifier from the provider you select.
• Discord (webhook) — we use a private Discord webhook as an internal review channel for player feedback, account deletion requests, and crash reports. Only Ki10 Games staff can view this channel. discord.com/privacy

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide, maintain, and improve the game.
• To display your scores on global and friends leaderboards.
• To sync your progress across devices.
• To analyse gameplay patterns and improve daily content, difficulty balancing, and question quality.
• To review and potentially feature player-submitted theme ideas in future daily content. If your theme is selected, your display name may be shown to other players as credit.
• To diagnose and fix technical issues.
• To respond to support requests and process account deletion requests.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data with advertisers.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (UK/EU users)

Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases for processing your personal data:

• Performance of a contract: processing your account data, game progress, and purchases is necessary to provide the Skill Check service to you.
• Legitimate interests: we process gameplay analytics, diagnostic data, and crash reports to improve the game, fix bugs, and prevent fraud or abuse. We balance these interests against your privacy rights.
• Consent: where you voluntarily submit theme ideas, feedback, or other optional content.
• Legal obligation: where we are required to process or retain data to comply with applicable laws.

5. Data Security & Storage Location

All data transmission to our servers uses HTTPS encryption. Account credentials and game data are stored on Supabase servers, hosted in the European Union. Leaderboard data (display name and scores only — no email, no game progress) is also transmitted to SilentWolf, which may host this data outside the European Union. Refer to SilentWolf's privacy policy for details.

Where data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards provided by our service providers to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data using industry-standard security practices, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated game data in three ways:

• From within the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account
• From our website: Visit skillcheckgame.com/delete-account
• By email: Contact [email protected] from the email address linked to your account.

We will process deletion requests within 30 days. Anonymised gameplay analytics, with no link to your account or display name, may be retained beyond account deletion for the purpose of improving the game.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under data protection laws (such as the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, or the CCPA in California) to:

• Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict our processing of your data
• Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk)

8. Children's Privacy

Skill Check is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of digital consent in their jurisdiction (13 in the United States and United Kingdom; 13 to 16 elsewhere in the EU, depending on the country). If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete the information.

9. Local Storage & Cookies

The web version of Skill Check uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication and saving preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies on the web version may affect login functionality.

The Android application does not use cookies but stores authentication tokens, your profile, settings, and a local copy of your game data on your device so the app can function offline and remember your session.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will reflect when changes were made. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or via email. Your continued use of Skill Check after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
